Getting Ready for Hijama Therapy
What will be the cost of it?
The client’s perspective is that the outcome varies based on the specific period, problem, and cup.
Is there any pain?
While it is not a common occurrence, there may be moments of discomfort and slight itchiness within the first day after the procedure. We recommend using black seed oil, olive oil, or argon oil for a period of up to seven days following the session.
Are the cups and scalpels reused?
Our practice ensures that we prioritise safety and hygiene by utilising single-use hijama cups, scalpels (blades) and acupuncture needles. To maintain proper disposal, we work with a reputable biomedical clinical waste contractor.
What steps should be taken prior to attending a session?
Please make sure to arrive at least 20 minutes before your appointment time to prepare for your hijama. Coming in late will reduce the duration of your hijama session.
Please let us know in advance if you have any health issues or are currently taking any medication.
Kindly let us know in advance if you are currently using painkillers or any blood thinners, regardless of the dosage or strength.
If you have ever experienced fainting in the past, please let us know.
It is important to consult with your health care specialist if you have any health conditions regarding cupping or hijama.
Hijama cannot be done if there is hair on the skin. Men are often encouraged to remove hair from their backs. If you’re planning to get hijama on your knees, it’s recommended to remove the hair within a four-inch radius around your knees. If you plan to undergo hijama on your head, it is important to ensure that your head is shaved beforehand.
Refrain from eating or drinking for three hours before. Make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water or sports drinks like Gatorade. There is no need to fast for more than four hours. It’s important to make sure you eat all of your meals.
Avoid engaging in sexual or strenuous activities before or after undergoing Hijama.
Opt for comfortable attire that allows for easy and swift changes into a fresh patient gown. We’ll provide you with a clean and fresh gown to wear during the hijama session. Following hijama, the skin is treated with black seed oil. There is a possibility that oil might stain your shirt.
Following Hijama Care
In order to maximise the health benefits, it is recommended that individuals engage in a 20–30 minute walk to promote proper blood circulation.
If you start to feel dizzy or light-headed, it’s important to take immediate action. Find a comfortable place to lie down and elevate your legs. Take your time getting up after 15 minutes if you start to feel better.
Resume intake within one hour after the hijama in moderation. It is important to stay hydrated after undergoing Hijama by drinking plenty of fluids.
Make sure to stay active for at least four hours.
It is advisable to wait before taking a shower and avoid scrubbing the wound area for a few days. You may experience some itching and skin irritation. Avoiding scratching is important as it can lead to scarring or infection.
When showering, it is best to refrain from direct contact of water with the Hijama site.
Avoid using heat on the Hijama location.
The red marks left by cupping typically fade within a week, depending on your skin type.
The small, superficial scratches required to remove the dead blood cells may take a few weeks to heal.
Hijama also has a soothing effect, and some individuals may feel quite sleepy afterwards; this is a common occurrence. Make sure to get enough rest, drink plenty of water, and wake up feeling refreshed.
